NHDI is an educational program that encourages learners in grades four through 12 to explore history that interests them. Learners express their creativity and historical analysis through performances, documentaries, websites, papers and exhibits.

NHDI VOLUNTEER JUDGES
* Do not need prior knowledge of specific historical topics
* Will be required from 8 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m. the day of the contest
* Will discuss projects with learners and write thoughtful feedback
* Will influence which projects will go on to state and national competitions

Since 1830, the Indiana Historical Society has been Indiana’s Storytellerâ„¢, connecting people to the past by collecting, preserving, interpreting and disseminating the state's history. A private, nonprofit membership organization, IHS maintains the nation's premier research library and archives on the history of Indiana and the Old Northwest. IHS also provides support and assistance to local museums and historical groups, publishes books and periodicals; sponsors teacher workshops; and provides youth, adult and family programming.

From interacting with our guest to working with our historic collections, IHS has a great volunteer opportunity that is right for you.
