Project Lift

This volunteer opportunity will take place on each Tuesday through February and March from 5:00 - 5:30 pm. It will include helping teens identify what it takes and mean to be prepared for the workplace through interactive games, group sessions, and lectures. Topics to be addressed: Critical thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, professionalism, creativity, etiquette, public speaking, cultural competency are terms that will be used in discussions about career readiness.

This is your opportunity to help students ages 13- 18, to educate students about how jobs/careers employability skills can be transferable or provide students with a competitive edge during interviews and internships for current and future careers. Of course, these abilities can differentiate a good employee from a great one.

Feb. 20: Image/Appearance
Feb. 27: Interviewing
Mar. 6: Leadership
Mar. 13: Customer Relations

Description

Project LIFT, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, is a performance based mentoring program that provides participants with a personal mentor (Coach) to help them improve their academic performance and enhance their abilities to withstand daily challenges as a teen. During the school year, students attend academic and personal development sessions. During these sessions students focus on their goals and how to achieve them. These sessions provide academic support, mentor and peer accountability, and life skills development.
