The most cost-effective response to any health crisis is prevention. Our Condom Distribution Program is growing in interest and in requests. The increasing workload has provided opportunities for additional community involvement in the program’s activities. Dedicated volunteers are needed to grow and maintain PCAF’s Condom Distribution programs.
PCAF delivers weekly, monthly, and quarterly, safer sex packages to over 25 organizations through Pierce and and Thurston counties. All packages are customized to organizations requests and delivered on site. PCAF distributes 15,000-20,000 safer sex tools each month.
Responsibilities:
- Correctly label and fill brown paper bags with safer sex materials.
- Commitment and community building are the goals for this activity. Safer Sex Materials Package and Delivery involves hand packing condoms, lubricants, and dental dams in bags and conducting site delivery to partner agencies. Packaging of materials are completed at the PCAF in Tacoma.
Qualifications:
- Preferrably 21 or older
- Comfortable with topics of sexuality, sexual orientation, and sexually transmitted diseases
Commitment: Packing happens every Thursday from 2PM-4PM. Volunteers are encouraged to commit to at least one month.
Training: All PCAF volunteers must attend New Volunteer Orientation and complete a criminal background check.
Benefits: Volunteers will gain knowledge about HIV/AIDS and safer sex practices; satisfaction from ensuring access to safer sex materials thorughout the community.
