No One Left Behind is seeking a volunteer Fundraising and Events Coordinator for the Denver area.
Military interpreters and their families arrive in the US typically with only a single carry on size suitcase. Often, our wartime allies arrive from Iraq and Afghanistan penniless with little more than the clothes on their backs. We are seeking a part time volunteer for our San Francisco East Bay Chapter to take the lead on planning events and investigating local fundraising opportunities. This volunteer will work in partnership with the local Chapter President and No One Left Behind's national team.
We love holding fun events to allow for a cultural exchange while supporting our work and the families who we assist. We can advise on how we have held henna and tea parties across the nation, and also work with our national partners such as Starbucks to hold meaningful local events. Have questions? Mission Statement
No One Left Behind helps Afghan and Iraqi translators gain their U.S. Special Immigration Visas and ensures that they are properly resettled in America. When our Afghan and Iraqi allies resettle in the US, they usually come with nothing more than the clothes on their back and whatever they can fit into one suitcase. We feel that given their profound service to our nation's military while at war, these interpreters deserve better than years of waiting on seldom delivered visas and almost no support in resettling in America.
Description
We help with immigration services to interpreters and translators who are being denied visas due to the bureaucratic red tape. We provide furnished apartments, modest financial support to help cover the weeks it can take before their social service benefits (food, medical, etc.) begin, and employment placement assistance. We also pair up newly arrived refugees with other Iraqis and Afghans who have successfully immigrated to the US -- to help smooth the transition.
