We are looking for volunteers to help us facilitate our Girls Who Code program at West Charlotte High School.
Girls Who Code is a nonprofit organization which aims to support and increase the number of women in computer science.
This involves helping high school girls develop an interest in technology by following the curriculum in short weekly sessions given by Girls Who Code, as well as helping the girls follow each step.
Individually, you will be facilitating a 2 hour session for girls in West Charlotte High School to introduce them to technical skills. This session will be 2:30 - 4:30 on Fridays twice a month after school. You will be meeting with the head volunteer for this club to help get access to the curriculum and get additional details on what is expected of you.
HTML, CSS, and light JavaScript experience preferred.
Girls Who Code curriculum will be available to facilitate. We will provide these materials, but there is no true set curriculum so there is some room for personal touches. The curriculum itself is not overly technical but does involve some technical knowledge.
See the Girls Who Code website for more information: https:// girlswhocode.com/clubs /
Specific dates for this club are the following: January 12th, January 26th, February 2nd, February 9th, February 16th, February 23rd, March 2nd, March 9th, March 16th, March 23rd, April 13th, April 20th, April 27th, May 4th, May 11th, May 18th, May 25th, and June 1st.
You do not have to attend every single date, but if you are able to, please make sure to let us know.
Thank you for your interest!
