The South Shore Habitat for Humanity Construction Committee is seeking individuals with construction related backgrounds to volunteer in support of Habitat’s commitment to building simple and affordable housing for local families in need. Volunteers will be assisting the Construction Manager with a variety of construction tasks that include identifying ways to facilitate the construction quickly and efficiently.
We are gearing up to construct twelve units of affordable housing in Duxbury, Hingham, Easton and Westwood over the next few years and are in need of volunteers to support this effort. The Construction Committee meets monthly in Weymouth and based on previous experience, volunteer tasks could include: serving as site managers, supervise construction volunteers, review design and construction documents, resolve construction related issues, provide design support, review bid proposals, participate in construction builds, provide administrative support and solicit in-kind donations of materials and labor as needed.
We are in need of volunteers with architectural, engineering, legal and permitting backgrounds as well as licensed construction supervisors, and individuals with construction industry experience. The level of commitment is flexible and entirely dependent on a volunteer’s ability and willingness to serve Habitat’s mission.
Habitat for Humanity does not give its homes away, we offer simple, decent, affordable homeownership opportunities to low-income households earning no more than 60% of the area median income through a 30 year interest free mortgage.
