ORGANIZATION: OFFICE MOMS & DADS

Aprons
Caring for Children Entering Foster Care

Office Moms & Dads is looking to expand in the Monroe/Sky Valley area! We are looking for someone to head up the effort and join a team of other dedicated volunteers who truly care about foster care in Washington state.

An OMD Volunteer Coordinator (VC) is a connector between Child Welfare workers and the local community. They are responsible for broadcasting requests from social workers who need childcare to volunteers on the roster. A VC must be available to receive such requests during weekdays 8am-5pm, and broadcast the need via text message to all available volunteers. Volunteer Coordinators must pass a background check, attend a Leadership Training, and complete 6 training hours.

We ask for at least a one-year commitment, and estimate that coordinating duties will take no more than 5 hours per week. Please contact us for a complete list of responsibilities and expectations, and find out how you can truly make an impact in child welfare!

About OFFICE MOMS & DADS

Location:

806 Main Street, VANCOUVER, WA 98660, US

Mission Statement

OMD deploys qualified volunteers to child welfare offices throughout Washington and Idaho who sit with and entertain children who have just been removed from their homes - children who have undergone unspeakable trauma. Our volunteers serve in their local child welfare office on an on-call basis, and strive to make the day just a little bit better for both child and social worker.

Description

Office Moms and Dads is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization based in Vancouver, Washington (USA). It is a grassroots program that stands on three premises: That community members can make a difference in the life and health of a foster child; that community members can help prevent burnout among social workers; and that by giving community members tangible access to the world of child welfare, more foster homes may be formed. The program continues to see exponential growth in Washington State, with interest from many other states as well. Office Moms & Dads believe that child welfare is everyone’s responsibility, and that everyone can do something to help.
