Join us in rescuing the native habitat by removing invasive plant species at Dorothea Dix Park on multiple Saturdays , from 9 am-noon. You can sign up for as many days as we have spots available. Invasive plants out compete our native species which our animals depend upon for food.
To join the fun, pre-registration is required. Please wear sturdy, closed toe shoes and clothes you do not mind getting dirty. Staff will provide gloves, tools and first aid kit with sunscreen and insect repellent. A map of the meeting location will be emailed to each registrant. Please use the map and NOT the formal address to find the event. .
Volunteer Duties: Possibly using hand tools such as loppers, pruners, or hand saws (18+ years) to cut down invasive plants and dragging them to be stacked for removal.
Work Environment: We will be working our way into and back out of wooded areas with the possibility of uneven ground. There are bathrooms on location.
Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who has also registered for the event.
