About

The Amedisys Hospice Volunteer Program exists to enhance the quality of life of hospice patients and their families by providing direct contact to patients and their loved ones, indirect contact with activities and education in the community and nursing facilities, bereavement support activities, and administrative patient-related duties. Some examples of activities needed include personal contact, visiting, playing cards, listening to music, shopping, running errands, phone support, respite while family runs errands, making blankets, creating Chart of Life posters, helping with celebrations, pet therapy, music therapy, hair dressing, activities for socialization, assisting with bereavement support groups, participating in bereavement memorial services, participation in We Honor Veterans program, and making hospital baskets.

Requirements & Commitment

  • Driver's License Needed
  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 16
  • Orientation or Training
  • 10 - 12 hours per month. No maximum amount.
  • 2 step PPD and free training through Amedisys
