Event Description:

Join us in rescuing the native habitat by removing invasive plant species at Durant Nature Preserve, multiple Saturdays, 9am-noon. Invasive plants out compete our native species which our animals depend upon for food.

To join the fun, pre-registration is required. You may register for one date or all. Volunteer Registration is first come, first served. Groups interested in volunteering will need to have all individuals register via this link and add the name of their group in the "registration notes" section. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Dates and Times:
February 3 - 9 AM to 12 PM
March 24 - 9 AM to 12 PM
May 5 - 9 AM to 12 PM

Please wear sturdy, closed toe shoes and clothes you do not mind getting dirty. Staff will provide gloves, tools and first aid kit with sunscreen and insect repellent.

Volunteer Duties: Possibly using hand tools such as loppers, pruners, or hand saws to cut down invasive plants and dragging them to be stacked for removal.

Work Environment: We will be working our way into and back out of wooded areas with the possibility of uneven ground. There are bathrooms on location.

Per Department Policy, this opportunity is not available for court-appointed or suggested community service hours.
