** IN ORDER TO REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER FOR THIS EVENT YOU MUST EMAIL Mary.owens@raleighnc.gov **

You're invited to give back to Raleigh's historic City Cemetery! Volunteers are needed to assist with mulching the interior landscape beds of the cemetery to help beautify the cemetery. Mulching plays an important role in well landscaped areas as it controls weed growth, provides moisture for plants, and an overall positive aesthetic look to the cemetery

Volunteer Duties: Spreading mulch around the landscaped areas at City Cemetery. Volunteers will work in teams to help fill wheelbarrows, run wheelbarrows and dump mulch in identified landscape beds, and rake mulch.

Work Environment: This project will be outside so we recommend dressing for the weather by layering so that you can easily adjust to the conditions. It will also be in a natural field and wooded area with the possibility of uneven ground. There are no restrooms on location.

Volunteer Requirements: Volunteers must be at least 15 years old. All volunteers will need to sign volunteer release forms. If a volunteer is under the age of 18 then a parent or guardian will need to sign their form as well.

We will supply: tools, gloves, water, snacks, first-aid kit, bug spray and sunscreen. Volunteers must wear loose comfortable clothing that can get dirty (in layers for weather) and sturdy closed-toe shoes like hiking/work boots or sneakers.

There is not a parking lot available at City Cemetery; however, volunteers will be able to park along the street for free. Additional information about the project and the volunteer release form will be sent to all registered volunteers prior to January 25.

**Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. All volunteers must register as individuals, but if you are a part of a group, please list the group in the "Registration Notes" when signing up. **

Per department policy this event cannot count towards court-appointed or suggested community service hours.
