  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

At Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa, we prepare every girl to practice a lifetime of leadership by providing her the experiences to build courage, confidence, and character, to make the world a better place. Girl Scouts Club provide the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls in grades K-12 in areas underserved by the traditional troop experience. Outreach Volunteers like are the key to the learning and development of girls in after school and community-based programs.

You will deliver fun learning experiences for girls at J C Hoglan Elementary on Wednesday afternoons for 6 weeks to help them develop a stronger sense of self, positive values, community problem-solving skills, healthy relationships, and an increased likelihood to seek a challenge. We will provide you the training, resources, and ongoing support throughout your experience!

Please note that all Girl Scout volunteers must register for a Girl Scout membership and pass a Girl Scout background check prior to starting their experience.

Description

Founded in 1912, Girl Scouts of the USA is the preeminent organization for girls with a current membership of 3.6 million girls and adults. Volunteers use their expertise, skills, interests, and life experience to shape fun and enriching leadership experiences for girls, and inspire them to reach their personal best. Volunteers help council staff facilitate the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls through exciting program opportunities: leadership/self-esteem, financial literacy, travel, health/wellness, science, technology, engineering, and math. Volunteers choose from several flexible Pathways (the ways that girls and adults join Girl Scouting) that fit their lifestyles, including short-term or long-term service working either directly or indirectly with girls, and they can participate regionally, nationally, and internationally.
