The Berea Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) is seeking dedicated individuals to serve as volunteers in a variety of roles to support homeless dogs, puppies, cats and kittens in their temporary shelter environment while they receive needed healthcare and eventually find permanent homes. Volunteers opportunities include serving as dog walkers at the shelter ("Dog Companions"), dog or puppy foster parents, cat or kitten foster parents, nursing home pet therapists, cat helpers at the shelter ("Feline Friends"), morning cat building volunteers, cat therapists working with shy or scared cats at the shelter, cat monitors at the Westgate Petco or Berea/N. Olmsted Pet-Valu stores, recyclers (haul aluminum once every six weeks or so as a fundraiser), or transporting animals to and from vet appointments and foster homes. For people who want to help but do not wish to volunteer at the shelter with the animals, creative fundraisers and marketers are also needed.
A new volunteer orientation is scheduled for Thursday, February 28, at 7:00 p.m, Olmsted Falls Library, 8100 Mapleway Drive, Olmsted Falls. Anyone 18 years or older interested in learning how they can help homeless animals through volunteering a few hours weekly or every other week are welcome. Volunteering for the shelter is set to fit an individual’s schedule and interests. Individuals interested in any of these opportunities may also email: firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the Berea Animal Rescue website, www.bereaanimalrescue.com and click on the "Ways to Help" button on the top of the home page; or call 440-234-2034.
