16th Annual Oakland MLK Day of Service
Monday, January 15, 2018
Groups and individuals of all ages and abilities are invited to join community projects in a day of volunteer community and outdoor service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Monday, January 15, 2018. Taking place each year on the third Monday in January, the MLK Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service - a "day on, not a day off."
Service for Peace has partnered with Oakland Public Works to lead this annually in Oakland since 2003, engaging thousands of volunteers in projects to clean and green Oakland. The Corporation for National and Community Service helps sponsor the event in Oakland, and throughout the nation, where hundreds of thousands of volunteers pitch in on similar community service projects.
