Position Title: Accounting Staff Intern

Department: Accounting

Supervisor Name: Bobbi Vigel, Financial Director

Responsibilities:

The volunteer will assists in the day to day Accounting operations of Opening Doors.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Assist in Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable.
• Update attachment of backups in Quick Books.
• Assist Accounting Associate in deposit preparation.
• Update filing in accounting area.
• Assist in weekly check run and distribution of checks.
• Performs research and reconciliation as assigned.
• Other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Preferred experience in Quick Books date entries (but not required).
• Strong interpersonal skills
• High level of attention to details
• Experience in excel, Quick Books, Peachtree, MS90 or similar accounting software
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles and accounting cycle
• Ability to take initiative with little direction required
• Must own a reliable vehicle

Time commitment: (hours/week; time of day): If the applicant is seeking college internship credit, the applicant will need to provide the total hour requirement need to obtain approved credit from their college. If the applicant is seeking to volunteer, there is no minimum or maximum hour requirement. At the end of the tenure program the applicant will receive a letter of recommendation and Opening Doors management will gladly provide referrals upon request.
