Furniture Donation Pick Up Volunteers Needed to help Victims of Domestic Violence

Furniture donations allow us to completely furnish the homes that families fleeing domestic violence move into. We allow the families to keep the furniture when they leave so that they do not have to start from scratch again---but every move in we do over again! We keep a storage unit of furniture that people donate so we are always ready for a new family to move in.

Safe Places is looking for volunteers who can help us pick up furniture donations from donors around Fairfax County and bring them to our storage unit (address provided). You do not need to have a vehicle that can carry furniture (we have a van that a staff person can drive to pick up the furniture in if necessary), but you must be comfortable carrying heavy pieces of furniture (usually with at least one other person to help you depending on the size of the item). You will be background checked as we would be giving you access to our donors home addresses and potentially you would do furniture drop offs at some of our confidential units where our families live as needed. The time commitment is flexible, probably about 3-4 hours per month and can be based around your schedule.
