The digital literacy mentor program will match volunteers with IRC Denver clients with the goal of improving basic computer literacy skills and providing mentors to youth and families to help them excel.

  • Position details & requirements:
    • Able to attend mandatory training/orientation Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at IRC Denver office
    • Commit 2-4 hours per week for 8 months (12 months recommended)
      • first cohort will be Feb-May 2018 and each following cohort will be in 4 month increments
    • Meeting time with clients is flexible based on volunteer and client’s schedule
    • Working with elderly, youth, or families (volunteer can note a preference when applying)
    • Comfortable providing any necessary homework help
    • Comfortable incorporating career guidance
    • Meet for 1-2 hours per month with IRC team for additional training and check-ins
    • Respond to weekly surveys providing program feedback
    • Willing to work with families on public transportation to/from library location(s)
    • An additional interview with the IRC program team will be required
    • Familiar with computer basics (including, but not limited to, social media, Office Suite, etc.)

    • Refugee 101, PSS/Trauma, detailed program training
