The Blue Heron Nature Preserve has a mission rooted in conservation, research, and education. Be a part of a specific research team by participating in our spring fish survey. Wade through the creeks and discover the Preserve in a totally unique way. Learn about native fish, their habitats, and their health.

Surveying will be done between 4/11 and 5/9 (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 10 am - 2 pm). Orientation sessions will happen the week of 4/2 and 4/9 depending on volunteer availability.

Bring water shoes and a change of clothing. Water bottles and sunscreen/bug spray are encouraged as well.

Description

The Blue Heron Nature Preserve 501(c)(3) is a nonprofit organization which manages a 30-acre greenspace located in north Atlanta in partnership with the City of Atlanta Parks Department. The Preserve was founded in 2000 with the vision of being a haven for nature in an urban environment. Our mission is to create a personal experience in nature for everyone through engagement, preservation, education, research and advocacy.
