KDL is looking for a volunteer who is geeked about the library and excited to promote reading in an exciting new way!
For the last year, we have been stocking a Free Library at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport to great success. It has become very popular with travelers and a unique way for KDL to connect with the wider community to promote the wonders of the library. Currently, we are restocking shelves on Concourses A and B five times a week.
KDL is looking for a long-term volunteer who would commit to one weekly trip to restock the Airport Free Library via first visiting the Cascade Branch to pick up fresh materials.
The ideal candidate would live in close proximity to the branch and airport, as KDL is not able to reimburse for mileage for this opportunity. However, if you are willing to travel to support your love of the library, proximity is no limitation.
The Airport Free Library Steward will need his/her own transportation.
This opportunity will require one to be able to bend and lift 35-50 lbs.
Security Clearance will be provided to the qualified candidate via a background check conducted by GR Ford Airport. This will enable the volunteer to quickly move through security to fulfill Airport Free Library duties.
This opportunity will take 1-2 hours weekly depending on travel time.
The ideal candidate will be friendly and happy to talk to travelers about KDL and the Airport Free Library Project. Travelers are curious about what we are doing and this is a great opportunity to build community relationships and have informative conversations.
