STEAM Central is the makerspace in our main library. It has been incredibly successful; so much so, that we are seeking volunteers who can help greet and orient new visitors so that the maker in residence can continue his work as visitors come in.
The hours most in need are from 3:00 - 6:00 pm Tuesday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Volunteers will have the benefit of orientation to most of the equipment and tools. Volunteers who are able to share knowledge or expertise on any of the equipment are encouraged to apply as helpers or teachers as their expertise allows. STEAM staff will work around your schedule and time constraints.

Use of sewing, embroidery and quilting machines; use of laser cutter; robotics, electronics, music production; video production; general tools; 3D printing; knit, crochet, drawing; any type of craft.

Description
TGCL consists of the main Stephens Central Library and two branches; Angelo West and North Angelo. Services consist of access to technology, free classes, free programs for all ages and a constantly updated collection of books, magazines, audio visual and digital materials. 2017 will see the opening of STEAM Central - a maker space consisting of textiles, electronics, 3D printing & laser cutting, general tools and a media center, all located at Stephens Central.
