There are many opportunities for individuals seeking to share their time with the YWCA NCW.

Thrift Store Assistant: Our thrift store is always in need of volunteers to sort and organize donated items on a weekly basis.

Office Receptionist: A volunteer office receptionist will be responsible for clerical duties at the front desk between the hours of 11 AM and 1 PM.

Maintenance: We are looking for volunteers with knowledge and experience with building, plumbing, and/or electrical maintenance to share their expertise and assist with upkeep of the administrative building and our three shelter facilities.

Donations: The women and women with children that reside in our shelters depend on our pantry for non-perishable food and hygiene products (diapers, shampoo and conditioner, menstrual products). We welcome and greatly appreciate donations.

Class Instruction: We invite volunteers to teach interesting and useful classes to those that are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or living in our shelters. We have had classes on a variety of topics including cooking, financial literacy, reproductive health, and art.

Web Development: We hope to expand our thrift store offerings into an online boutique. We are looking for a volunteer to create a website and maintain current offerings of available items.

About YWCA North Central Washington

Mission Statement

YWCA North Central Washington is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

Description

YWCA-NCW focuses efforts on the most relevant issues in our community. We strive to eliminate homelessness, end racism and discrimination, and provide life skills education and job training for women and women with children who struggle with housing and earning a living-wage.

In 2008, our first Women’s Shelter was opened and began giving women in need a temporary place to stay, all while giving them the tools necessary to stay off the streets and out of homelessness. In 2011, we opened our own thrift store to provide another form of job training and education. In 2014, YWCA-NCW launched the New Bridges Transitional Housing Program for women and women with children; this program allows for up to a one year stay in order to accommodate growth in self-sufficiency.

As we continue into the future of our organization, we will strive to search for more ways to bring new opportunities to those who are homeless and underprivileged, creating more events and fundraisers to promote awareness and diversity, and continue to work with the City of Wenatchee and the State of Washington to help end homelessness, empower women, and eliminate racism.
