Lifelong has always been an organization that stands up for communities facing discrimination and marginalization. What makes our organization unique is not our services, but how we deliver them.
We discovered that for someone to overcome barriers to health, our staff needs to meet them where they are in life. Instead of just checking boxes on an intake form, we truly listen. Case managers identify what basic needs aren’t being met, whether that’s safe housing or reliable transportation to doctor’s appointments, or access to healthy food. Our kitchen cooks nutritious meals that cater to someone’s specific illness, and then hand deliver them to doorstep with a smile.
Volunteer delivery drivers are the heart and soul of our food program, delivering thousands of bags of groceries as well as meals each year to our clients. You will deliver food to the homes of our clients once a week for at least 6 months. Routes generally take 45-60 minutes to complete on average, most volunteer will deliver to at least 4-7 clients and there's no need to return to Lifelong after our route. If you have time in our day or on your way home from work to give back to the community, then this opportunity is the one for you or if you can't commit to 6 months, please consider becoming a substitute driver (see information below).
Current Needs in Issaquah & beyond:
- Thursday from 2:00-5:00pm
Commitment: 1 shift/week for 6 months.
Qualifications: Must be 16 years or older, have a driver’s license, and a vehicle with proof of insurance. Volunteers are responsible for paying for gasoline.
Looking for a meaningful volunteer position but unable to commit regularly?
Lifelong is currently seeking volunteers interested in becoming Substitute Food Delivery Drivers for the Chicken Soup Brigade Food Program. Sub drivers will be contacted in the case that a regular driver is unable to cover a route. Sub drivers must be able to commit to at least one delivery shift per month. We email you, and if you can pick up a shift then simply respond to the email. If not, no worries! Just ignore the email.
