Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative

The Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative (ESPRI) was unveiled by Governor Andrew Cuomo in 2016. It brings together government, non-profit and business leaders to design and implement coordinated solutions to reduce poverty in sixteen communities across New York State. This initiative has translated into an AmeriCorps VISTA Program in which sixteen individuals commit to a full time year of service fighting poverty in one of these communities:

All who participate in VISTA are entitled to a variety of benefits, including an education award upon completion of service, a biweekly living allowance, and reimbursement for relocation. For more information, visit my.americorps.gov and search 'Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative.'
