Become a Caring and Crisis Hotline Volunteer Listener.
Join our listening community.
You could save a life.
Volunteers receive 52 hours of comprehensive classroom training in
active listening, Mental Health First Aid and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training.
You will also get 24 hours of practice answering calls with the support of seasoned listeners before you answer calls on your own.
And, once you are a certified listener, we provide a range of
support and training opportunities so you can continue to develop your skills.
The training includes Mental Health First Aid and
ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) certifications.
Join our Tuesday morning training:

Plus one full weekend: June 2 and 3, 2018

Mission Statement
Caring Contact believes that every human being has intrinsic value. We provide hope, offer compassion, and save lives through our caring and crisis hotline and community outreach programming. We devote ourselves to preventing suicide and other self-destructive behavior by listening actively and empathetically to people in distress, offering them emotional support without judgment. Since volunteers make our service possible, we are committed to providing an enriched, rewarding volunteer experience.
Description
Caring Contact is a caring and crisis hotline offering the gift of listening to callers in need throughout New Jersey.
As part of a nationwide network of crisis hotlines affiliated with the International Council of Helplines, Caring Contact is dedicated to preventing suicide and making a positive difference in people's lives. The service, provided by highly trained volunteers, is free and confidential.
CONTACT's local hotline number is (908) 232-2880.
Caring Contact is also a member of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, now called 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and answers calls from individuals in 5 counties in New Jersey and nationally.
