Community Charter School of Excellence (CCSE) is providing an exciting and challenging opportunity for professionals to support the operations of an educational non-profit 501(c)3. CCSE is a K-8, Title-1 public charter school located in East Tampa, Hillsborough County. This school is 100% independently managed with no for-profit management company (with all revenues being invested into the school operations). The school is looking for volunteers to provide professional expertise and experience in helping govern this non-profit. Volunteers with experience in education, business, finance, law, marketing, and / or accounting are needed to provide the skills needed to manage the operation. Required time commitment includes one (1) board meeting per month (usually last Monday of the month) and the required financial commitment is a donation to the school in an amount designated by the individual board member (at the discretion of the individual). Strategically, the school is undergoing a change in the recent move to a new location and the expansion of the student body and operations. Volunteers are subject to a background check as required by Hillsborough County Public School and the State of Florida.

Mission Statement

The Community Charter School of Excellence, Inc. (CCSE) is a tuition free public charter school. CCSE provides K-8 grade students quality education opportunities that embrace visual arts and graphic design while nurturing positive morals and appreciation of academic achievement. Curiosity and independence of thought are nurtured in the students for a lifetime of learning. CCSE educates children who are at-risk for school failure and have developmental delays due to the effects of poverty. The parents of these children are faced with challenges of housing, employment and nutrition, as well as meeting the daily needs of their children.

Description

Serving Hillsborough County since 2008 and situated in the East Tampa neighborhood, CCSE provides an excellent educational opportunity to students in grades K-8, 99% of which are eligible for Free / Reduced Lunch (CCSE is located in a moderate income neighborhood with 36% of the population below the poverty line). CCSE has developed strong local roots and community support. The School is also 100% independently managed with no contracts or relationship with any for-profit school management company. CCSE is fully governed by an all-volunteer board of directors with all funds being directly reinvested to further our educational mission to our disadvantaged population. The school provides quality education and support to approximately 225 students annually and the average income of the families is well below the national guidelines for poverty. After moving into our new facility, the new school can support up to 364 students. Our comprehensive program not only provides a high-quality learning environment, but also healthy meals. Parents must commit to be actively involved with their child/children's education to enroll at CCSE.
