Pepper Tree Science Fair

Pepper Tree Elementary's 13th Annual Science Fair, "Keep Calm and Put Your Lab Coat On", is looking for potential judges from the community to help evaluate student projects. If you are interested in science, have STEM background/experience, work in education, or just want to help out the school, we welcome you to take on this important part of the Science Fair experience.

Judges may arrive anytime between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 5, 2020. We anticipate an assignment to consist of between 3-5 projects and take no more than one hour to complete.

Judging is based on criteria explained in a scoring form with step-by-step instructions. Students will not be present during this time. If you are a parent or relative of a Pepper Tree student who is participating, you will not be assigned their grade to judge.

So come on out in February to help evaluate these great projects and have fun learning about what our students have to offer!

About Pepper Tree Elementary School

Location:

1045 West 18th Street, Upland, CA 91784, US

Mission Statement

Pepper Tree staff and parents work collaboratively to foster a sense of individual responsibility while developing self-esteem. Staff, parents, and students participated in developing Cornerstones for Success, the beliefs that guide our school-wide expectations. It states: We believe that: each student has the right to learn; each teacher has the right to teach; and parental involvement and support is essential to success. Therefore, all students and adults will come to school prepared to learn; do their best; take care of personal and school property; show courtesy, caring and respect towards self and others; and use safe conduct. Dignity for both adults and students underlies the fabric of the school’s climate and each and every student-staff interaction. We believe that because of these Cornerstones for Success our scores remain among the highest in the district.

Description

Pepper Tree is the newest of Upland’s ten elementary schools, built in 1991. We are situated in the foothills below Mt. Baldy, approximately 35 miles east of Los Angeles, California. Pepper Tree is home to 29 regular education classes encompassing kindergarten through sixth grade, a resource specialist program, an EL instructor, a part-time speech and language specialist, and is also the home of the district’s home school program. We are the largest school in the district with approximately 760 students and the largest district-run daycare program employing a coordinator and four assistants to serve the before and after needs of Pepper Tree’s student population. In 2004, due to its fine academic program. Pepper Tree was named a California Distinguished School. Due to continued academic growth and program enrichment Pepper Tree again was named a California Distinguished School in 2008 and will hold the title a full eight years.
