Successfully promote and support the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, by providing tax assistance services for families and individuals with low incomes lower than $54,000 annually, at no charge with filing their taxes. This is an unpaid, four month long placement that begins mid-January with training and ends in mid-April.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Collect all necessary documentation from the families/individuals in order to files their tax returns.
• Provide free tax filing services for families and individuals with income lower than $54,000 annually.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Successfully pass the IRS exam, certification at the Basic level or higher by the scheduled start date for VITA services
• Must be able to work independently utilizing the IRS rules and regulations.
• Must be reliable, punctual and professional.
• Exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
• Excellent organizational skills with orientation to detail.
