Each day, volunteers will have daily outdoor activities for the summer program, reading books, team building and with assistance on field trips, parks and sport activities. To supplement the efforts of current staff, we are seeking volunteers interested in working with kids.
Time Commitment: short-term
Program Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Dress Code: Casual Jeans; T-Shirts (Blue) Gym Shoes
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will assist and collaborate with the program directors to work directly with students, tutoring students individually and in small groups, tracking student progress, and reporting weekly to program coordinators.
Program Goals
Increase academic achievement by:
Addressing targeted academic needs
Fostering relationships of trust between students, staff and volunteers
Dedicating full efforts to knowledge gain
Decreasing at-risk behaviors
Qualifications
Preferred candidates have a background in education K-12 teaching/special education; however, all are welcome to apply
Candidates should be at least 16 years old or older
Candidates should be mature, motivated, patient, and demonstrate a positive demeanor at all times

Mission Statement
The mission is to be a supportive resource for families in the community; having after school and mentoring programs for the youth, offering job readiness workshops ages ranging (16-21; 22-30; 31-40), feeding the community, clothe drives, support groups and resources to domestic violence women/children and hosting fundraiser; within the Chicago land areas areas working towards Community Affairs, Employment and Educational.
Description
The Better Sister Growth Network is aiming to help domestic violence women/children with developmental training, life skills with assisting in group supports and connecting with shelter's for resources. Helping women and youth with resume building, proper dress etiquette and interview tactics. Becoming involved in the after school program helping the youth with tutoring, homework and avoid unsafe places.
