ORGANIZATION: Better Sister and Brother Growth Network

Seeking a self-starter for social media marketing. The internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while working for a community based nonprofit organization.
Responsibilities:
* Update and maintain the social media pages Facebook and Twitter
* Assist in planning, writing and managing online Fundraisers
* Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories
* Designing flyers, graphics, eventbrite and other marketing material for major events hosted by TBSGNetwork
* Update the website when needed
* Attend monthly marketing committee meeting with Board of Directors
* Collaborating with CEO on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications

Qualifications:
* Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space
* Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English,
Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations)
* Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus
* Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Proficiency in Adobe
* An effective communicator, both written and oral
* Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts
* Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
* Enthusiasm for the mission of TBSGNetwork and the families we serve

Start Date: Position open until filled, requires 3 - 6 month commitment.
Hours: 8 - 12 hours/week, preferably twice a week in the office.
Compensation: This is an Unpaid/Volunteer internship

The mission is to be a supportive resource for families in the community; having after school and mentoring programs for the youth, offering job readiness workshops ages ranging (16-21; 22-30; 31-40), feeding the community, clothe drives, support groups and resources to domestic violence women/children and hosting fundraiser; within the Chicago land areas areas working towards Community Affairs, Employment and Educational.

Description

The Better Sister Growth Network is aiming to help domestic violence women/children with developmental training, life skills with assisting in group supports and connecting with shelter's for resources. Helping women and youth with resume building, proper dress etiquette and interview tactics. Becoming involved in the after school program helping the youth with tutoring, homework and avoid unsafe places.
