Mission Statement
Created in 1979, our Foundation for Free Enterprise Education addresses the compelling and urgent issue of workforce preparedness by offering interactive, impactful programs that help students develop the job-ready skills today's employers need. Over four decades later, workforce preparedness remains the most critical need for Pennsylvanian business. That's why our mission and vision has never been more important. FFEE programs engage and challenge students to compete, learn, experience, and embrace business and our American free enterprise system and build skills that prepare them for the 21st-century workforce. Mission: To heighten the awareness of Pennsylvania's youth about their future role in the American free enterprise system by delivering high-quality and practical hands-on learning experiences. Vision: To be the recognized leader in providing quality learning opportunities that promote the understanding of the link between personal freedom and economic opportunity.
Description
Our Foundation currently offers three programs: Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week, The Stock Market Game(TM), and the Speaker Series.
Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week (PFEW) educates high school students about the American free enterprise system by bringing motivated students together with business people from throughout the state. Student companies simulate the operation of their own business. Facing all of the decisions that real executives are confronted by, each company is mentored by business volunteers who serve as Company Advisors sharing their knowledge and expertise.
Our Foundation also works with the SIFMA Foundation to offer The Stock Market Game (SMG) in Pennsylvania. SMG is an online classroom program facilitated by teacher, that allows students to experience the thrill of investing, without all the risk of losing real money. They get $100,000 of virtual cash that they can use to invest in stocks, bonds, etc., gaining a fundamental understanding of investing. They are in control of their fortune and compete with other teams from their region and across the state.
The Speaker Series was created in 2020 to help students explore a variety of careers, develop mentor relationships, and map a plan for their future. An online library of video resources, the Speaker Series consists of two distinct tracks, the Life Track, focusing on students' inspiration and personal development, and the Career Track, focusing on career exploration and workforce preparedness. New videos are added to provide even more impact for years to come.
