VITA Program Volunteers

The VITA Program allows community members to complete tax returns for free. Some of our VITA clients will be requesting services in Amharic and we could use your help! Interpreters will be needed at the CAA office in Rockville while staff answer phones as well as 5 locations in the county during direct services.

Amharic Interpreters will be welcome to provide direct service or simply translate for other volunteers. No previous tax experience is required. Shifts can be flexible with your schedule during business hours. Some Interpreters will be needed in the evening as well as several Saturdays. We ask that you contribute at least 10 hours between the months of January and April. Volunteers must be 18 or older and complete a quick online certification.
