ORGANIZATION: CHICAGO CHESS FOUNDATION

chess4

We would like to develop an online fundraiser to collect $50,000 to help fund the operations of the Chicago Chess Foundation. Ideally, we need a person with social media savvy to help us develop online ads, tweets, and video messages to drive donors to our site and generously donate. In addition, the fundraiser needs to express our commitment to chess as a strategy for improving the academic and emotional lives of thousands of Chicago students, enhancing their problem-solving skills, boosting their ability to concentrate in the classroom, and nurturing their self-esteem. The Chicago Chess Foundation is a young organization but we have made much progress in the last year. We operate the Rook, Rattle & Roll program, providing grants to at least a dozen schools per year to begin new competitive chess programs. We operate 7 free elementary school chess tournaments each year, touching more than 2000 students. Recently we hired an executive director and a programming manager to run these activities and create new programming. Actually, half the job is done because we have a donor willing to match every collected dollar up to $25,000. We formed a $50K Committee to steer the fundraiser. We also have a 3000-person mailing list to leverage donations.
