Organization Overview
At the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP), our business is changing lives. We are a vibrant, entrepreneurial nonprofit in the heart of Silicon Valley that is committed to partnering with schools to ensure the low-income students of our community graduate from high school, ready for college and career. BGCP is the largest expanded learning time organization in Silicon Valley, serving 2,300 students at twelve sites in East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Redwood City. In neighborhoods where ⅓ of the students drop out of high school, BGCP members learn the importance of education and become part of a community of learners, wanting and expecting to succeed in school.

Position Overview:
The Part-time Van Driver is responsible for transporting our members to their homes after program concludes at the Boys and Girls Club East Palo Alto location.

What will you do?

  • Drive high school members home from our Menlo Park location. Students generally live in the communities we serve, so most trips will be short.
  • Maintain vehicle logs.
  • Perform routine vehicle safety checks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of vans.
  • Have familiarity with roads and be responsible for knowing travel routes and destinations.
  • Be responsible in case of emergency van repairs to manage details of roadside assistance and/or towing.

Employment Status: Part Time
Hours: 7-9pm
Schedule: 4-20 hours per week depending on availability

What qualifications will the ideal candidate have?

  • At least 21 years old
  • Current and valid California Drivers' license (standard class C--no special license required)for minimum of 5 years
  • No points on MVR (Motor Vehicle Record)
  • Proof of personal auto insurance
  • Current TB test -- showing negative test result
  • Annual physical by a medical doctor and written "release to work"
  • Must pass annual driving test
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must pass LiveScan fingerprint testing, through the Department of Justice
  • Previous experience with driving K-8 students a plus
  • Familiarity with mechanical operations of automobiles a plus
