The Children’s Tumor Foundation is the leading nonprofit funding source of NF (neurofibromatosis) research in the world. In a few short years, we have grown from a foundation that funds promising science to one that catalyzes the drug discovery process through a series of innovative processes, key partnerships and strategic investments.
Do you enjoy helping to raise money for a good cause? We are looking for dedicated volunteers to help organize and execute our new and exciting 5K National Tour that is coming to Fort Worth, TX on May 19, 2018.
The Race Director will work directly with a Children's Tumor Foundation staff person to help with all facets of a 5K run/walk (holding committee meetings, monitoring registration via our website, recruiting participants, helping secure local sponsors, race day logistics). Good organization and communication skills are required. This volunteer position is about 50 hours annually, divided between semi-regular committee meetings and the day of the race.

Description
Neurofibromatosis, or NF, is a genetic disorder that affects one in every 3,000 people. It can cause tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body, and complications from NF can lead to disfigurement, deafness, blindness, skeletal abnormalities, learning disabilities, malignancies, and debilitating pain. NF affects all populations equally, and there is not yet a cure.
The Children’s Tumor Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to finding effective treatments for the millions of people worldwide living with neurofibromatosis (NF), a term for three distinct disorders: NF1, NF2, and schwannomatosis. NF causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body and may lead to blindness, deafness, bone abnormalities, disfigurement, learning disabilities, disabling pain, and cancer. NF affects 1 in every 3,000 births across all populations equally. There is no cure yet - but the Children’s Tumor Foundation mission of driving research, expanding knowledge, and advancing care for the NF community fosters our vision of one day ending NF.
