On February 14th, Community 360 will deliver over 5,000 Valentine's Day cards to nursing home residents in the Omaha area ensuring they feel loved on this special day. Delivering a handmade card will let the residents know that they are not alone nor forgotten. On Valentine's Day, pre-sorted bags of cards can be picked up at our office and delivered. You will choose a shift and be assigned a care community to deliver to. This is a wonderful opportunity for families. You could also help by making cards. Cards can be mailed to Community 360 at P.O. Box 3301, Omaha, NE, 68103 anytime before February 7th. If you have questions, contact lisa@community-360.org

Mission Statement
Community 360 is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to serving the frail elderly living in nursing homes. We recruit, train and place trusted volunteers in nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout the Omaha Metro area. Community 360 Volunteers become a long-term source of support and companionship for residents, restoring dignity, hope and improving their sense of well-being. Description
Less than half of all nursing home residents receive regular visits from anyone.
Studies show that people not receiving visitors die twice as quickly in the same period of time as those people who do get visitors.
Loneliness has been linked to the incident rate of Alzheimer's disease.
Lack of socialization can lead to over-use of psychoactive medications to manage people.
Suicide incident rates are highest for persons 65 years of age and older.
As a result, people are not dying from old age, but rather they are dying from a broken heart.
Volunteer visits save lives.
