Circles Laurel Highlands is a program that inspires and equips families and communities to thrive and resolve poverty. It is two-fold -- it works with parents and children living in poverty to gain the skills necessary to be successful in today's society, and it educates and engages people from the middle and upper class to join in the effort as Allies (mentors), volunteers, leaders, and advocates for community change.

Circles is grounded in research that shows that families from inter-generational poverty need multiple strategies to overcome systemic and cultural barriers to poverty and they must build strong social capital based on human connectedness with peers across class lines in order to succeed in moving out of poverty. Almost always, families living in inter-generational poverty are not equipped with the tools or the relationships they need to move out of their situations.

Watch the kiddos while families work to become self-sufficient! Children from infants to age 14 attend the program and learn how to support their parents in their efforts to become more stable. Our program meets once a week on Wednesdays from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Dinner is served during the meeting.
