Kitchen service volunteer needed for a temporary basis

Montgomery Station is Family Services, Inc.'s day center for adults living with chronic mental illness. Mondays-Fridays clients come to the center for breakfast and lunch, to attend group sessions and classes, to do computer work or art projects and to socialize. Montgomery Station is located at 630 East Diamond Avenue in Gaithersburg.

The kitchen director will be out on leave from Wednesday, January 10 through Thursday, January 25. We're looking for a volunteer, or a group of volunteers who can help to prepare and serve the breakfasts and lunches during this time period.

Breakfasts are prepared, including items such as yogurt, cereal, fruit, muffins, juice and milk. A volunteer helping with breakfast would need to arrive by 8:00am to set up the meal, and clean up would be completed no later than 10:30am.

Lunches can also be prepared, of if the volunteer feels comfortable, the volunteer can prepare some simple recipes left by the kitchen director. A volunteer helping with lunch would need to arrive by 10:30am, and clean up would be completed no later than 1:00pm.

The kitchen director also has several clients from Montgomery Station who help her in the kitchen on a regular basis, and they would be available to assist any volunteers. They know the routines, the kitchen and the clients who attend the meals.

Interested volunteers should have experience working in a commercial kitchen.
