We are ringing in a new year and a new decade at Kentucky Science Center’s Noon Years celebration! On December 31st and January 1st, we will take all the fun of New Years Eve and make it into a two day science celebration, with special explosions each day starting at noon. Come out to experience hands on science activities and tons of mess making as we explore the properties of everyone’s favorite: SLIME! Come out and ring in the Noon Year with fun and science that the whole family to enjoy together!

Noon Years

Event runs 10:00-4:00 each day

Activities Include:
Slime test zone (Science in Play- 1 st floor)
Observe how slime splats, slides, and oozes. Manipulate slime on ramps and through obstacles.

Chalk Slime (Science in Play- 1 st floor)
Draw on a slime-based chalkboard that writable and rewritable.

Building with Slime (MakerPlace Lobby area- 2 nd floor)
Construct three-dimensional shapes with slime

Animal Slime & Gross Animals (Discovery Gallery- 2 nd floor)
Discover the slimier side of the animal world

Slime Parachute (3 rd floor pedway)
Create a parachute capable of safely transporting a canister of slime 40 feet through the atrium

Slime lab (bio lab- 3 rd floor)
Examine the properties of polymers through many different slime recipes

General Floor Support
Miscellaneous floor support and permanent exhibit upkeep and facilitation

Science in Play Support
Upkeep the small parts-based Early Childhood gallery and facilitate permanent exhibits such as roller coasters, shapes and stuff store, water table, etc.

Please note: Background checks will be completed on all volunteers 18+ and are completed at no charge to you. Volunteers must pass the background check and receive confirmation from the Volunteer Manager before volunteering. Please allow 2-4 days for processing of the background checks.
