Volunteer purpose and impact

The Champion Manager supports all Champions (volunteers) in successfully fulfilling their commitment of sharing LSS-SW with individuals they know by bringing at least ten people to a Come & See tour within three months. A Champion is a volunteer who commits to hosting a Come & See Tour, inviting 10-15 friends to join in learning more about the mission of Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest during a one hour event.

Responsibilities and key deliverables
  • Follow up with all confirmed Champions within 5 days of the time the guest commits to being a Champion.
  • Create a plan with Champions for how they will invite guests, when they will invite them, and which Come & See tour they will attend.
  • Regularly communicate with each Champion on progress made and next action.
  • Maintain weekly communication with LSS-SW staff on progress of each Champion.
  • Thank and acknowledge successful Champions upon completion of their commitment.
  • Reconnect Champion with the LSS-SW staff for continued engagement with the organization.
  • Previous Ambassador who has brought ten people to a Come & See tour. If no prior experience, agreeing to be a Champion and host a Come & See tour.
  • True passion for the mission of Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest.

Working conditions

Training will be provided by the Regional Director of Community Engagement. This will include in person training, training documents, and continual phone conversation updates.

Clearances required & training

This role requires a Verified Volunteer background check. The volunteer is responsible for the cost of the background check ($17).

Location & timeframe

The Champion Manager will volunteer between 3 and 6 hours weekly at the Tucson Admin Office, 6303 E Tanque Verde Rd, Suite #101. The volunteer term is ideally for one year, cumulating in November at the Building Foundations Luncheon. The Champion Manager is encouraged to host a table at the annual Building Foundations Luncheon.
