The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. United Way Suncoast in partnership with Gulf Coast Community Foundation works with community organizations to locate Adult Students who are not currently in crisis, may have families, and meet some of the following criteria:
stable and employed for at least 6 months or longer
stable with permanent housing at least 6 months or longer
verifiable HS Diploma or G.E.D.
ready to work on goals i.e. furthering education/furthering career
with objective to become self-sustaining.
We seek volunteer Coaches/Mentors who are financially successful and possess the following qualities:
And match the coaches with students to help guide the students with:
goals - setting, creating incremental steps and achieving
financial awareness - where are they in current situation vs where they need to be
financial responsibility - understanding what it takes to be self sustaining
