Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control is always looking for volunteer help! Our next volunteer orientation is on Saturday, September 22 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. You can sign up for it at this link (space is limited): https://goo.gl/forms /X2Erjhc5xRE94uZD3

If you are reading this and it is past that date, have no fear! You can email volunteer@friendsofdacc.org to get started and we can give you a mini orientation on your first day. We'd like to have a board member/senior volunteer present to give you a tour and show you the tasks volunteers work on. Just send an email and let us know when you'd like to start, and we'll make arrangements. Our hours are from 9 am to 3 pm seven days a week and our shelter is located at 7401 Chrysler Dr. Detroit, MI 48211. There are waiver forms you need to fill out the first day you come to volunteer. This is the only part of our "certification" process. We don't require a time commitment and we don't have "levels" of volunteers. We appreciate any time someone comes down, and hope that it is a positive and enjoyable experience every time! Wear comfy shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Volunteers are able to walk dogs, cuddle cats, play with puppies, do laundry, wash dishes, pass out treats, stuff Kongs, or anything else you think of that we approve. We also have onsite and off-site adoption events, fundraisers, and other volunteer opportunities. If you are on facebook, we have a group "Detroit Animal Care and Control Volunteers" that is a good way to keep up with opportunities.
