Become a part of the Tales and Travel Memories program team! This unique program is designed to encourage participation, conversation, and expression among people living with early and mid-stage dementia. The Tales and Travel Memories program simulates the act of traveling to different countries and US states by using stories and folk tales, interesting facts, pictures, and music to immerse them in the selected location.

Working with library staff and other volunteers you will go to memory care facilities in the Pocket Greenhaven area of Sacramento where you will interact directly with the residents.

We will visit care facilities once a month, on either a Wednesday or Friday. Our visits will be scheduled to take place in the mid-morning or early afternoon; no evening or weekend visits.

Information about dementia and Alzheimer's will be included in the training specific to engaging with older adults. Memory care philosophy and HIPAA regulations will be reviewed in advance of visiting the facility.

To be considered for this opportunity you must be at least 21 years of age and have your own transportation. We ask that you be able to commit to 2 to 3 hours, once a month, for at least 6 months.
