support

The LEP Advocacy Support Team works diligently to assist clients in a variety of ways, sometimes duties include being the friendly face that greets new clients or helps them learn their way around the shelter. You might hold or play with a child while their parent works with an advocate. You might prepare a room for client arrival, answer the business phone line, help with organizational needs, teach a client a special skill you have, or just be available for someone who has not had a kind person in their life. The BRH office is a 24/7 facility, open 365 days a year and therefore the need for volunteers is great. You can volunteer during times that work with your schedule, day times, evenings, and weekends are all options! All members of our Advocacy Support Team must be 18 years or older and may not have any history of violent criminal activity.

LEP (Limited English Proficiency) support team members assist in all of the ways that other support team members do, but with the addition of assisting with translating educational materials, forms, brochures, etc, and interpreting for non-Spanish speaking advocates during meetings, support groups, and crisis counseling.
