The Friends of the Hilton Head Library is looking for a Treasurer to serve on our Board of Directors.
The duties include:
- Using Quickbooks to record all transactions
- Writing checks and depositing payments
- Reconciling all bank operating and investment accounts monthly
- Producing a monthly Balance Sheet and Income Statement
- Preparing the annual IRS 990 Form
- Assisting in the preparation of the annual budget
- Attending the Board meetings on the 2nd Tuesday afternoon of the month
- Reporting a synopsis of the financial statement at the Board meetings

Mission Statement
The Friends of the Hilton Head Library was organized in 1971 as a non-profit organization to promote literacy and encourage the pursuit of life long learning through the use of the library's resources. We raise funds to help our library be the first-rate public service our community values expect. The Friends buy books, equipment, and supplies that are not covered by county and state funding; we sponsor events and speakers that are interesting to our community; and we sponsor children's reading programs, as well as many other learning and growth opportunities for both kids and adults. The bulk of our funding comes from membership contributions and the proceeds from our Friends' Bookshop located to the left as you enter the lobby of the library.
Description
The Friends exists to help the Hilton Head library by providing funds for many items not covered by the state and county funding. For example, we have bought new furniture for the children's library and new computers for public and staff use. In addition, we provide programming for both children and adults.
