Bridging The Gap is offering the following unpaid internship. This internship is a terrific way for individuals with an entry-level nonprofit background to learn how to develop a solid volunteer program.

Name of Internship: Volunteer Services Management Internship

Length of Internship: January through May, 2018

Basic Internship Description:

Bridging The Gap engages volunteers across several programs, totaling more than 1,600 unique volunteers and 8,069 volunteer hours last fiscal year. This internship will support Bridging The Gap’s Volunteer Services Manager in volunteer recruiting, retention, and appreciation efforts. The intern will learn the tools necessary to develop and maintain a thriving volunteer base within a non-profit that relies on volunteer engagement.

Major Responsibilities:

The intern will work directly with the Volunteer Services Manager in a supporting role to expand the capacity of volunteer engagement. Some responsibilities may include: data entry and records management, researching volunteer programs, engaging and cultivating volunteers in the corporate, private, and public sectors, creating volunteer recruiting posts, and exploring new technologies to engage more volunteers. The intern may also assist in developing a volunteer appreciation plan.

Skills/Experience Needed:

Experience Needed:

This internship is open to students studying Non-Profit Administration/Leadership/Management. Student applicants must have completed an entry level non-profit class; non-student applicants must have equivalent experience.

Skills Needed:

Must be energetic, positive and a team-player. Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Applicants must have excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office, ability to input information across a variety of online platforms. Must be comfortable in engaging with the public. Social media skills and some environmental knowledge is preferred, but not required.

Time Commitment Days/Wk: Flexible Hours/Wk: 6 to 8 hours

Phone, computer, email account, reliable transportation.
