ORGANIZATION: Teachers' Treasures

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 2 people are interested

Is your church, temple, sorority/fraternity, business, knitting club, book club, rugby team, or dedicated group of friends looking for a meaningful way to spend a Saturday morning? Join Teachers' Treasures for our BUSY Saturday morning shopping opportunities.

Dates are:
1/27
2/27
3/17
5/19

Start time is 7:30am and we will be done at noon. Volunteer tasks include checking teachers in on the computer, checking teachers out on the computer, sorting lots and lots of tags (this is how we keep track of product going out the door), stocking shelves, hunting carts down in the parking lot, drinking coffee and eating snacks, and interacting with roughly 200 teachers throughout the morning.

We do like putting those teens and preteens to work as well if you want to get them out of bed early!

If your business is trying to engage with local educators, this is a great way to make those face-to-face connections!

Please reach out to Hanna with what day your group would be interested! There is no training prior to the day of the service date.

About Teachers' Treasures

Location:

Mission Statement

Teachers' Treasures obtains and distributes school supplies to teachers of classrooms and students in need.

Description

Every day at public, charter, private, and parochial schools located throughout Marion County, children of all ages attend class without the most basic supplies they need to get a good education. Dedicated teachers are often willing to pay for these much needed supplies out of their own pockets to make sure the kids in their classrooms have the necessary tools to learn.

Teachers' Treasures, in partnership with local businesses, charitable foundations, neighborhood organizations and individual contributors, helps fill this need by operating a volunteer based "Free Store for Teachers." Donated educational supplies and other materials are distributed via this unique conduit to teachers for the benefit of their students.

Teachers' Treasures offers a variety of group volunteer activities that can be tailored to your group or organization. Please contact Hanna Yaeger-Busch at hanna@teacherstreasures.org or call 317-264-1758 for more information.

Teachers who volunteer 2 or more hours can earn extra shopping passes. Teachers who are normally ineligible to shop can also volunteer to earn opportunities to shop.
