Furry Friends Refuge is a non[profit humane organization serving the animals of West Des Moines, Urbandale, Clive, and Windsor Heights. Furry Friends is a 501(c)3 tax-deductible organization and has created the first no-kill community in the Des Moines metro area. Our adoption centers are located at 1211 Grand Ave. in West Des Moines and 1723 Grand Ave. in Des Moines

Summary
The Cat and Critter Care Volunteer is responsible for providing a standard of care set by the shelter,
which will provide; a clean living environment, fresh food, clean water, and socialization for the cats
and critters.

Responsibilities
● Scoop Litter, and replace as needed
● Replace food and water
● Sweep each area and mop as needed
● Clean Surfaces and kennels
● Returning or refilling cleaning materials and notifying Staff if cleaning materials are low
● Prepare empty kennels for new intake animals
● Be able to recognize and follow instructions for care for animals in the clinic building. I.e...
special food, litter, special documented circumstances, and staff only animals

Expected Hours of Work
This position requires 2-3 hours per shift. A minimum of 4 shifts are required monthly. The volunteer
will schedule their time with a Monthly Sign-up sent by the Volunteer Coordinator.
