Hands-on History

Do you enjoy working with kids? Learning and sharing local history? Join our education team and help with weekly education activities!
The Williamson Museum offers lawn games and a free, come and go, craft activity every Saturday at The Williamson Museum on the Chisholm Trail (Round Rock). The lawn games include tic-tac-toe, checkers, and pioneer games such as graces. The craft is themed each month and tied to a historical event or activity, such as the art of the fan, mascots, the Red Cross lassies (and donuts!).

Volunteers should be comfortable with public speaking and working with children, passionate about education, and have an interest in history. Ideal for students looking for service hours.

Mission Statement

The mission of The Williamson Museum is promote the culture and heritage of Williamson County through education, preservation, acquisition, and exhibition. Our vision is to become a benchmark for all museums by providing leading-edge historical and cultural education to the public.

Description

Located on the historic square in Georgetown, The Williamson Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation established in 1997 to promote the rich culture and heritage of Williamson County through education, preservation, acquisition, and exhibition.

Through our extensive educational outreach programs (we see 14,000 students a year!), our goal is to preserve the unique stories of the county for both present and future generations. In addition, the Museum provides insight and accurate historical information based on first-hand sources in a variety of areas. This focus allows the Museum to effectively educate, entertain and enlighten our visitors.

Visit us today and meet "Three-Legged Willie" - the namesake of the county. You can't miss his statue right in front of the museum!
