Concord Lake Sunapee Rail Trail
Help create sections of trail that can be used by all residents. Rail trails become one of the most popular amenity within a community.

Wouldn't you like to see a rail trail in Concord? Our group has been active for several years with a focus outside of Concord. We have built over a mile of trail in Warner. We are building two miles of trail in 2018-19 in Contoocook & Davisville (parts of Hopkinton and Warner). We are building another 1/2 of a mile of trail in Bradford this year.
We are close to producing results you can walk on in Concord.
You would be stepping into a position that is poised for success. We have a fun and capable core team. As a Concord resident you would be close to the action and that makes a difference. Friends of the Concord - Lake Sunapee Rail Trail has introduced this rail trail to city staff (Planning, Engineering, General Services), the Conservation Commission, and City Council members in Wards 1, 2, 3, 4. We have also talked with several landowners along the route with encouraging results. We have secured the permission we need to build the trail and secured about 2/3 of the funds necessary, without a public campaign in Concord.
We had our first public event in Concord December 7th at Midnight Merriment where we connected with hundreds of people who were happy to see us and hear about this new trail. Join the fun and become a local hero.
Help us deliver on our unofficial tagline - "Ice Cream every 45 minutes." We say that because that's about the time it takes to go from one town center to the next on this trail. This is a fun and beautiful project. Contact us to learn more.

Mission Statement

Friends of the Concord - Lake Sunapee Rail Trail (CLSRT) is a 501c3 nonprofit whose mission is to create a multiuse path of 34 miles substantially following the old railroad grade of the Concord and Claremont Railroad from Pierce Manse in Concord NH to Newbury Harbor on Lake Sunapee in Newbury NH. Much of the old railroad grade is privately owned so we are asking landowners for permission to make the trail on their land. This is a true community project that is succeeding because landowners, residents, businesses and visitors all understand how transformative a rail trail through Concord, Hopkinton, Warner, Sutton, Bradford and Newbury will be for their communities and for the region. People also like our informal tagline of "Ice cream every 45 minutes." which is our way of saying the trail goes right through the village centers of each of these towns.

Description

Friends of the Concord - Lake Sunapee Rail Trail is a 501c3 run by an all volunteer board. We engage with land owners, municipalities, and the state to obtain permission to build the trail on property they own. We plan projects with independent utility, so each adds value to the community on its own. We have fun doing trail maintenance and clearing.
We are extremely fortunate to have a board that is fun, enthusiastic and capable. We are additionally blessed to be working on a project that has broad community support. That translates into people wanting to work with us on projects. We make it very easy for people to engage with us on a no strings attached basis, show up for an hour or two in the field and be done.
