Mission Statement

The Information Technology Empowerment Center (ITEC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works with students and families in Michigan to build excitement for coursework and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. Working with high school students, middle school students, and adults, ITEC offers programs that develop academic and leadership skills, increase educational performance and foster students’ confidence in their ability to compete professionally. ITEC’s vision is to enable Lansing area residents to acquire flexible, transferable technological skills that will allow them to participate in a fast-paced global economy.

Description

ITEC provides Lansing-area students the opportunity to create, build, and explore in a guided, hands-on learning environment. Our programs spark student enthusiasm and interest in STEM content and careers while increasing college readiness and preparing children for a successful future.

Students who participate in ITEC programs increase their ability to problem solve and work together as a team, while developing academic and leadership skills, and learning how to compete professionally in a global economy.

Through the development of 21st Century learning skills - critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration - ITEC brings STEM alive in the classroom! There is no answer key to ITEC learning. Our programs are not "school after school."

Whether they are learning how to build a working LEGO robot, improving math skills with tutors, many of whom are Education majors at Michigan State University, or creating their own video game, ITEC students are learning that math and science are fun, exciting, and can change the world.
